The invention relates to an information recording carrier, in which writing, reading and erasing of information takes place by a combination of an electrooptical coating and charge-storing elements. The choice of the electrooptical material is facilitated significantly thereby and there is a great storage capacity at a high storage duration. The combination of applied voltage and light radiation serves to generate a locationally fixed charge pattern. This produces polarisation-optical changes in the electrooptical coating, which are used for reading out the information. In this case, the same light source can be used for writing, reading and erasing the information. The recording medium and process presented are consequently outstandingly suitable as a mass storage means in computer systems. |
