The invention relates to a method of obtaining soil air samples in which soil air contained in a borehole or flowing into the latter from the soil is removed by means of a probe introduced into the prepared borehole and projecting out of the latter by means of its upper end through the interior of the probe using an external suction pump connected to the probe. The method is characterised in that the soil air sample is collected from the upper part (21) of the probe (2) through a short, closable branch line (25) which is sealed from the ambient air.
