Tape (t) comprises a lead foil (t1) of thickness 10-300 (pref. 25-100) microns, with layers (t2, t3) on either side of it of a vinyl chloride polymer (I) having tensile strength at least 1.5 kg/sq.mm and 100% modulus at least 1 kg/sq.mm. A layer (t4) of a hot melt adhesive (II) is provided on one of the (I) layers. Opt. a 10-300 micron thick layer of a heat-resistant polymer (III) having softening pt. at least 200 deg.C is provided between the lead foil and (pref.) the (I) layer carrying the adhesive.
