PURPOSE:To prevent color reproducibility from deteriorating by using both color glass with spectral characteristics which allow the transmissivity of the infrared range to some extent and a color separation prism whose transmissivity in the infrared range is suppressed below a certain characteristic value in combination. CONSTITUTION:The color separation prism 11 is provided in front of solid-state image pickup elements 10R, 10G, and 10B for red, green, and blue, and consequently separated primary color light beams of red, green, and blue are guided to the elements 10R, 10G, and 10B. Then, an infrared-ray cut filter of color glass 12 is arranged in front of the prism 11. Here, the glass 12 has such spectral characteristics that the transmissivity is high up to the long wavelength of the visible light range. The prism 11 uses a prism whose spectral characteristic in the infrared-ray range is >=5% at a certain value, e.g. 700-1,200nm when multiplied by the spectral characteristics of the glass 1 in the infrared-ray range. For the purpose, the glass 12 uses glass with spectral characteristics which do not deteriorate color reproducibility.
