PURPOSE:To transfer stitches with fine lay pattern onto a vacuum formed item by a method wherein irregularities with stitch pattern are provided in advance on a base material, onto which is thermoplastic sheet with grain pattern is vacuum-bonded so as to form a rough profile and finally to locally form the clear contours of stitch pattern and their fine lay pattern by pressing. CONSTITUTION:A base material 7 is made of resinous material such as ABS resin or the like. The irregularities with the desired stitch pattern 4 are formed in advance on the surface of the base material 7. Next, a heated and softened thermoplastic sheet 17 is held above the base material 7. After that, negative pressure is applied between the sheet 17 and the base material 7 with a vacuum pump so as to bring the sheet 17 into close contact along the irregularities on the surface of the base material 7 in order to form a vacuum formed item 6. Next, only the stitch part of the vacuum formed item 6 is pressed with a press tool 20, in which recessed and projecting parts 3'' and 2'' of stitch pattern 4'' and fine lay pattern 5'' are engraved so as to be desired by the vacuum formed item 6 formed as mentioned above is transferred to a finishing process in order to obtain a console lid outer. |
