PURPOSE:To develop low alloy steel power for sintering which has excellent compression-moldability and is uniformly dispersed with alloy components by mixing the fine powder of an iron alloy of a specific compsn. further with iron or steel powder. CONSTITUTION:The fine iron alloy powder which is sized <=1/5 the size of the iron or steel powder is mixed at 5-20wt.% ratio with the iron or steel powder such as iron powder reduced from ore having >98% Fe. The above- mentioned iron alloy in this case is the iron alloy contg. at least >=1 kinds of Cr, Mn and Mo as diffusion hardening elements and is so formed as to have the low alloy steel grade contg. >=0.5wt.% Cr, Mn, Mo, etc., after mixing. Such powder mixture is annealed at 700-900 deg.C to the state in which the fine iron alloy powder is stuck around the iron or steel powder. The powder is press- molded and sintered by which the low alloy steel sintered product consisting of the uniformly dispersed alloy components and having the high strength is obtd.
