PURPOSE:To quicken a conceal release display by minimizing the decoding of a character code requiring the longest processing time in the decoding processing of picture data. CONSTITUTION:At the time of re-decoding for conceal release processing, all codes are decoded independently of character/control codes with respect to code strings existing between the conceal designation code and conceal end designation code (conceal attribute is applied to characters designated inbetween) and only control codes are decoded and character codes are not decoded with respect to other parts (conceal attribute is not applied to the characters designat ed inbetween). When the character code are read, the characters subjected to release display are displayed on a correct operating position (display position on a picture) by applying operating position management similar to conventional drawing.
