In a burner (10) with an oil-atomiser nozzle (11) and a mixing tube (12) which is located in a fire tube (17), and where the combustion gases (16) are to be recirculated in the mixing tube, increased heating of the mixing tube is proposed, in order to provide sufficient vaporisation of the oil (13) within the mixing tube. This can be done by measures to increase the surface area of the mixing tube (22) which improve the heat flow from the waste gases to the oil, or by supplying supplementary energy in the form of electric resistance heaters, thermal radiation, by induction, eddy current, etc. <IMAGE>
