Method for separating phases under conditions of motion

The method of the invention effects the separation of phases in a seaway, by preventing the formation of a gas phase above the upper liquid phase. The method serves in particular for treating ship's sewage by the gravity principle. Solids suspended in the waste water settle out. Since no gas phase can arise over the liquid phase, movements of the surface of the liquid due to motion of the hull, leading to currents and turbulence in the sewage, are prevented. So effective separation of the phases can occur even in a seaway.
