The heat radiator has a housing (10), which carries a reflector (12), which surrounds a heat source (14) which is equipped with a radiation shielding (20) on its side facing the reflector opening (18). The reflector (12) is equipped, on its front side (22) facing the heat source (14), in cross section on each side of its centre plane (24) with at least two different radii of curvature (R1, R2), and with respect to its centre plane (24) it is of mirror-image symmetrical design. Because of this design of the heat radiator, a diffuse heat radiation can be radiated over a large surface and uniformly. Between the reflector (12) and the housing (10) there is a closed cavity (28), in which introduced water evaporates and is given off through steam nozzles (38a, 38b) as steam. In this way food can not only be kept uniformly warm, but drying out and encrustation of the food are also avoided without the food having to be arranged in a closed display box or the like. <IMAGE>
