PURPOSE:A highly expandable polyolefin composition suited to mold a thick-wall foam having a large cross-sectional area, obtained by mixing a polyolefin with a foaming improver comprising a combination of a specified amide and a specified amine and a volatile organic blowing agent. CONSTITUTION:A foaming improver is prepared by combining at least one amide of formula I (wherein R1 is a 1-23C hydrocarbon), e.g., hexanamide or octanamide, with at least one amine (acyl derivatives) of formula II (wherein R2 is a 1-5C alkylene, y is 1-10, and x is 0-2), e.g., 2-hydroxyethylamine. 100pts.wt. polyolefin (e.g., high-density polyethylene) is mixed with 0.05-15pts.wt. this foaming improver and a volatile organic blowing agent (e.g., methyl chloride or dichlorotetrafluoroethane) to obtain the purpose highly expandable polyolefin composition. |
