PURPOSE:To attain a cue point searching even to a tape where a time code is discontinuously recorded by executing the cue point searching action not only with a time code but also a tape winding diameter. CONSTITUTION:An entry switch 7 to designate a cue point is pressed and operated, a memory writing circuit 12 respectively writes time code data from a time code detecting circuit 1 at the time point and tape winding diameter data from a tape winding diameter detecting circuit 3 into memory areas 21 and 22 of a memory 20. When a switch 8 to execute the cue point searching is pressed and operated, a tape travelling control circuit 16 comes to be an action condition, and a tape travelling is controlled in accordance with the output from comparators 11 and 13. Immediately after the action is started, a changing- over switch 14 is connected to a terminal (b) side, when it arrives at the tape winding diameter error range of a memory area 23, the switch 14 is changed over to a terminal (a) side by the output of a discriminator 15, a time code is discontinuously recorded and even then, searching can be executed.
