PURPOSE:To prevent an unexpected response included in a control reproducing signal by supplying the data to generate the data approximately in inverse proportion to the tape winding diameter of a tape reel to a variable frequency- dividing circuit, and obtaining the corrected control signal. CONSTITUTION:A CTL signal reproduced by a control (CTL) head 4 is made into a CTL reproducing signal 13a, and given to a variable frequency-dividing circuit 15 and a majority circuit 21. On the other hand, a frequency-dividing ratio setting circuit 40 generates (n) value data 25 in accordance with the winding diameter change of a reel 1 and adds them to the circuit 15 based on the winding diameter data of a supplying reel 1. As the result, a CTL signal 20 corrected from an output terminal 19 of the circuit 15 is removed and added to the circuit 21. At the circuit 21, the noise component of the signal 13a to occur at the time of reading the signal 13 is compared with the signal 20, a correct output waveform is removed and added to a CTL counting circuit 22. Thus, a correct counting output can be obtained.
