PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a back fire by constituting the system wherein ignition and fuel gas supply start in a predetermined time after driving a starter motor with the operation of a starter switch. CONSTITUTION:A control means 20 is monitoring whether a predetermined time (t) (e.g. about 1.5sec) has passed from the reference point where a driving signal is outputted for a starter motor 25, and when the predetermined time (t) has passed, operates an igniter 21, thereby starting ignition. When the predetermined time (t) has elapsed since the start of the starter motor 25, hydrogen gas stagnating in the cylinder of an engine 9 and intake and exhaust pipes is all discharged. Therefore, gas combustion never takes place even if a spark is generated in that stage. Then, when a predetermined time (e.g. about 0.5sec) has elapsed since the start time of ignition operation, a shut-off valve 3 is opened and hydrogen gas is fed to intake valves 10 and 11 via a preliminary mixing system 5. Consequently, a back fire via stagnating gas never takes place at the re-start of the engine 9 immediately after the stop thereof.
