<p>PURPOSE:To extremely form fine elements and to improve the capacity ratio of nonlinear elements and picture elements by forming the nonlinear elements by using the side part of metallic wiring. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal 18 is charged between a couple of substrates 9 and 17, picture element electrodes 10 are formed on one substrate 9, and a counter electrode 16 is formed on the other substrate 17. Here, metallic wiring electrodes 11 are formed adjacently to the picture element electrodes 10 and the metallic wiring 11 and its side part are coated with an insulating film 12; and lead wiring 15 is formed in contact with the insulating film 12 at the metallic wiring side part and the other end of the lead wiring 15 is connected to the picture electrodes 10. Then, a nonlinear element is formed on the side part of the metallic wiring 11, the insulating film 12, and one end part of the lead wiring 15. Consequently, a switch element consisting of the fine nonlinear element is obtained and the switch element capacity ratio to picture element area is improved.</p> |
