PURPOSE:To prevent overrich at the time of deceleration, etc., by limiting a fuel injection quantity calculated based on intake air quantity and engine speed to a specified lower limit value and correcting the intake air quantity while increasing it based on the calculated fuel injection quantity and its lower limit value. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 9 calculates a fundamental fuel injection quantity based on the intake air quantity from an air flow meter 2 and the engine speed from a crank angle sensor 12, and it makes various corrections based on detection values sensed by a cooling water temperature sensor 20, a throttle opening sensor 24. At the deceleration, time when a throttle valve is fully closed, the intake air quantity is greatly decreased, and the engine speed is also greatly reduced, the calculated fundamental fuel injection quantity is limited to a lower limit value. Based on a difference between the calculated fundamental fuel injection quantity and its lower limit value, an opening of a throttle by-pass valve 6 is controlled by calculating an increase in the intake air quantity so as to decrease the difference.
