Circuit-breaker with a number of movable contacts 20 and a corresponding number of fixed contacts 25, 26 where at least one of the contacts consists of a spring-loaded group of contact rollers 20 with several rollers 21, 22, 23, 24 arranged to touch flat side surfaces on two contact rails 25, 26 between the rollers, where the rollers can slide or roll on the abovementioned surfaces when the circuit-breaker is opened or closed. In order to limit the required distance for the movable contacts to move between closing and opening, it is proposed that the group of contact rollers 20 and the interacting contact rails 25, 26 are arranged in such a way that they form a stepped arrangement. In this way the physical dimensions of the circuit-breaker are reduced in comparison with current technology, even for circuit-breakers with several poles and for large currents. <IMAGE>
