A terminal strip having spark gaps for protection of cables comprises a plastic body in which metal contacts are arranged which have first ends projecting on one side of the body and second ends arranged within the body, between which air gaps are provided for spark discharge of overcurrents or overvoltages in the cable. The said contacts consist of a rail which is connected to earth via the terminal strip and of contact plates which are connected to the respective cable via the terminal strip, the earthing rail having a bracket shape such that the majority of it runs at a distance from the centre line of the body while the contact plates are arranged on the centre line of the body. The earthing rail (2) is bent through approximately 90@ in order to form a spark discharge part (12) which is provided with points (20), while the contact plates (3) have a spark discharge part (17) which is essentially straight so that the air gaps between the respective contact plates (3) and the earthing rail (2) are formed between the said points (20) and the spark discharge part (17). <IMAGE> |
