PURPOSE:To detect a changed recording sheet automatically, performing a manual cut for this sheet only, and get rid of unnecessary operation, by detecting the changed recording sheet and installing a controlling device performing the manual cut operation. CONSTITUTION:In this recorder, there are provided with a recorder on-off detection sensor 21 and recording paper presence sensors 13a and 16a, detecting a changed recording sheet by these sensors, and also there is provided with a controlling device which receives a manual cut signal and performs manual cut operation to this changed recording sheet. In consequence, when the recorder is opened or closed and the specified sheet roll is changed, such a state that there is no sheet temporarily with the opening or closing of the recorder and the sheet change is detected by the opening or closing detection sensor 21 and the sheet presence sensors 13a and 16a. With this constitution, whether any of recording sheets is changed or not is discriminated, whereby only the changed recording sheet is subjected to the manual cut operation, thus unnecessary operation is eliminatable.
