PURPOSE:To increase an opening area and to provide deflector function, by a method wherein a stepped opening part, where the rear side is positioned in a level higher than that of the front side, is formed in the roof of an automobile, and a forward downward inclined cover member is openably disposed to the opening part. CONSTITUTION:A roof 2 of an automobile is formed in a stepping-up manner so that the rear side is positioned in a level higher than that of the front, and an opening part 5, extended to a front end part 4 of a rear roof, is formed in succession to a step-up part 3. In this case, a front edge part 5a of the opening part 5 is positioned in a level higher than that of a rear edge part 5b. A cover member, being capable of closing the opening part, is disposed to the opening part 5, and a cover member 6 is formed with an upper surface 6a and both sides 6b. Each of sliders 7, making slide contact with a guide rail 8, is mounted to the lower end part of each of the sides 6b. Meanwhile, the guide rails 8 are disposed along both side parts 5c of the opening part 5. This constitution causes inclination of the opening part 5 to increase an opening area, and provides function of a deflector by means of the cover member 6 during opening of the opening part 5.
