TITLE WEAR RESISTANT MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MAKING INVENTORS Roch Angers Blaise Champagne A wear-resistant composite material and method of making said material. The material comprises hard cermet particles dispersed in a metallic matrix, and particularly of cemented tungsten carbide particles dispersed in a steel powder matrix. This wear-resistant composite material is made by consolidating mixtures of steel powders and hard cermet particles. Porosity of the composite is removed by infiltrating. This material is suited for applications which require good wear and abrasion resistance and toughness, such as for inserts for snow plows, wearing parts of excavators, mining vehicles and other equipment subject to abrasion and impact.
