<p>PURPOSE:To recover sulfur and hydrogen economically and in high purity, by combining treatment with an aqueous solution of an iron salt containing ferric ion with electrochemical treatment and treating a hydrogen sulfide- containing gas in a closed system. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen sulfide component-containing gas is introduced to an absorption column 1 charged with a ferric ion-containing iron salt solution (e.g. FeCl3 solution) to product a reaction shown by formula I. Then colloidal sulfur among precipitated sulfur is fed to an absorption column 5 and adsorbed on an adsorbent. Aggregated sulfur is sent to a melting and separating tank 3, separated from a solution, the solution is joined with a solution having adsorbed the colloidal sulfur and fed to an electrolytic tank 4. The mixed solution is electrochemically treated to produce reaction shown by formula II, ferrous ion in the solution is regenerated as ferric ion and hydrogen is generated to recovery sulfur and hydrogen efficiently.</p> |
