PURPOSE:To strengthen the rigidity of a steering supporting member, by constituting a structure such that the steering supporting member, holding a steering shaft, is connected with cowl side parts while directly with a floor tunnel part extending in the longitudinal direction in the center of a car body. CONSTITUTION:A steering supporting member 10, connecting its both end parts between cowl side panels 9 while its central part directly with a floor tunnel part 17 of high rigidity, almost halves a distance between the connection parts as compared with the conventional steering supporting member 10 connected only between the cowl side parts. Consequently, the steering supporting member 10 enables its rigidity to be strengthened. Accordingly, the steering supporting member 10 holds a steering shaft 13 enabling it to be sufficiently suppressed from retracting in the time of head-on collision.
