PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength tubular composite member excellent in adherence between two members, which are constitutional members of the tubular composite member by a method wherein extruded bar-shaped member is bonded to the inner peripheral surface of a metal pipe by pushing a needle-like pin in the axis center part of the extruded bar-shaped member and, after that, thermosetting resin is set by heating and finally the needle-like pin is pulled out of the extruded bar-shaped member. CONSTITUTION:A metal pipe 1, on the inner peripheral surface of which surface treatment for improving adherence is applied, and an extruded bar-shaped member 2, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the metal pipe 1 and which is produced by impregnating axially stretching unidirectionally reinforced fibers 4, 4... with un-cured thermosetting resin 5 and the turbulence of fiber orientation of which is few, are prepared. Next, the extruded bar-shaped member 2 is concentrically inserted in the metal pipe 1. After that, the extruded bar-shaped member 2 is bonded to the inner peripheral surface of the metal pipe 1 by pushing a needle-like pin 3 in the axis center part of the extruded bar-shaped member 2. Further, in the state as just mentioned above, the thermosetting resin 5 is set by heating. After that, the needle-like pin 3 is pulled out of the extruded bar-shaped member in order to integrally form an annular fiber reinforced resin layer 6 in the metal pipe 1. The resultant metal pipe is cut in length in order to obtain a desired product B.
