PURPOSE:To prepare a combustion improver capable of causing complete combustion when added to a fuel oil in a small amt. and suppressing and decreasing the generation of a flue gas and carbon, by adding a small amt. of each of an extract of a ginseng and an alkali metal salt to a particular mixed oil, exposing the mixture to ultraviolet radiation, and conducting warmed brewing. CONSTITUTION:Illuminating kerosene is mixed with an equal amt. of a camphor oil. The mixture is mixed with about 0.1%, based on the mixture, of an alcohol extract of a ginseng and about 0.01%, based on the mixture, of an alkali metal salt. The mixture is exposed to ultraviolet radiation, followed by warmed brewing for 12hr, thereby preparing a combustion improver for a petroleum fuel. This combustion improver is mixed with a fuel in an amt. of 1/5,000-1/10,000 based on the total amt. of the fuel. The combustion improver provides a catalytic effect of promoting combustion of a petroleum fuel and brings about complete combustion and suppression and decrease of the generation of a flue gas and carbon. According to a study, the combustion improver can decrease the fuel consumption by about 15%.
