PURPOSE:To exactly execute grounding by providing a conductive arm member so as to be opposed to a head base, on a carriage consisting of an insulating synthetic resin material, bringing elastically a pressure spring held in a ground potential into contact with this arm member, and allowing this arm member to abut on the head base. CONSTITUTION:A head base 5 having a magnetic head 7 is fixed to a carriage 3, and an arm member 1 consisting of a conductive material is supported so as to be freely rotatable. One end of a pressure spring 4 is detained to a chassis 6, the other end is brought elastically into contact with an engaging piece 1a provided perpendicularly on the arm member 1, and by this elastic force, the arm member 1 is pressed against the head base 5 in a point A. When a cam rotates, the carriage 3 moves along a guide shaft 8, and the head base 5 and a magnetic head 7 move in the radial direction of a magnetic recording medium. In this case, although a position relation of the carriage 3 and the pressure spring 4 is varied, the content point A is scarcely varied. In such a way, an electrostatic charge generated on the surface of the magnetic recording medium is earthed exactly through the head base 5, the arm member 1, the pressure spring 4 and the chassis 6.
