PURPOSE:To prevent color misregistering from occurring due to external forces, by moving a ribbon position in a direction perpendicular to a feeding direction to a most stable position when all data in a reception buffer is printed and the lapse of time reaches or exceeds a predetermined period of time. CONSTITUTION:A master CPU 1 drives an I/O driver 4 through a bus line 5, thereby controlling an interface circuit for external devices and a line-feeding motor which are connected to the I/O driver 4. It is monitored whether printing of all received data in a RAM 3, which tentatively stores data received from the host side, is completed, and the lapse of time from the reception of the last data from the host by the RAM 3 is monitored. When it is found by monitoring that all received data in the RAM 3 is printed and a predetermined period of time has elapsed from the reception of the last data, the master CPU 1 performs such control as to move a wide ribbon to a most stable position. With the ribbon moved to the most stable position, it is possible to effectively prevent color misregistering due to external forces from occurring at the time of color printing.
