METHOD OF MAKING ARTICLES COATED WITH POLYETHYLENE COATING

PURPOSE:A powder coating layer mainly consisting of a modified olefinic resin is provided between the primer containing powdery aluminum and alkyl silicate condensates and the powder coating layer of polyethylene to produce coated articles excellent in adhesion, heat resistance, water resistance and anticorrosive properties. CONSTITUTION:The surface of substrates is coated with a primer consisting of a metal powder that contains mainly an aluminum powder and may contain granulated zinc powder in an amount of less than that of the aluminum powder and an alkyl silicate condensate that is prepared by partial hydrolysis of alkylsilicate with 1-4C alkyl groups being soluble in organic solvents in a proportion of 60/40-95/5 and then boked. Another powder coating layer of an acid or epoxy-modified olefinic resin is provided thereon and finally a powder coating layer mainly consisting of polyethylene is formed.
