PURPOSE:To shorten an editing process time through a simple constitution by storing bit of inputted picture information after dividing it into every optional area, and at the same time, outputting it again after replacing and combining them optionally. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal from a reader A is transferred to a gate G2 through the gate G1, or is transmitted to a memory RAM through an S/P conversion circuit SP. According to an address assigning signal from the reader controller C2 of the reader A, a controller C1, receiving the designation of a selected part among the divided area of the original, makes, the RAM store only the designated part of the picture signal. The S/P conversion circuit SP converts the signal read from the RAM into a serial signal, and transmits it to the gate G2. The gate G2 synthesizes the picture signal read from the RAM and the picture signal transmitted from the reader A through the gate G1, and transmits it to a printer B.
