PURPOSE:To achieve compactness and high reliability by arranging magnetic field to be with axial intensity difference of less than 15% at the inner end face of an anode vane and electric field to be with reduced electromagnetic coupling between the strap ring and a pole piece with the strap ring embedded in a groove deeper than the side end face of the vane. CONSTITUTION:Pole pieces have center apertures 29b and 30b with the inner diameters equal to, or slightly larger than, the diameter of an envelope curve Da formed by vane inner end face A, and the outer diameter Dpo of the face closely facing the vanes of the pole pieces 29 and 30 is more than 160% of a vane envelope curve diameter Da with a strap ring 24 inside the vane groove embedded deeper than the side end face 23a of the vane. In this way, equalization of magnetic field in an effective space, and electromagnetic coupling between the pole piece and the strap, are reduced so that almost no deterioration of load stability is caused even with shortened axial length of the vane, and cathode inverse shock by electrons is not increased even with the shortened input stem length. By this method, a compact and light weight magnetron with high reliability can be obtained for a microwave oven.
