PURPOSE:To decrease the power supply capacity and the higher harmonic wave current of the titled converter by using a function to compensate the instantaneous reactive power concurrently with feedback control of the DC output voltage. CONSTITUTION:The 3-phase AC power supply voltages eu-ew are applied to a converter main circuit Cn consisting of six transistors and an output DC current I is supplied to a load Ld via a DC reactor L. A current control circuit Ic compares the DC current I detected by a current transformer CTd with a current command Is to calculate a DC voltage command Ids to apply it to a computing element C. Here the DC current I, a reactive power command qs and the inter-line effective value Ea of the power supply voltage are also applied to the element C for calculation of a flow angle (gamma) and a phase angle (alpha) to apply them to a pulse generating circuit Pc. Thus it is possible to compensate the instantaneous reactive power of another device up to its limit capability while the output current I is controlled to a prescribed level.
