摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the length in the direction of a crank shaft of a horizontal engine and the height thereof, by a method wherein a pair of axially extended right and left branch suction pipes are disposed in a V-bank central space, and each branch suction pipe is extended from the front and the rear of an engine. CONSTITUTION:First and second cylinder groups, which are not in the adjoining ignition order, are formed with cylinders 2a, 2c, and 2f on a left bank 1L and cylinders 2b, 2c, and 2f of a right bank part 1R, and the two bank parts 1L and 1R are axially offset from each other. A pair of left and right branch suction pipes 11L and 11R are disposed in a V-bank central space, and the branch suction pipe 11L of the branch suction pipes 11L and 11R is extended to the side positioned far away from a partition wall 6 by which to partition the interior of an engine room into the front and the rear part, and the branch suction pipe 11R is extended to the side near the partition wall 6. Suction ports 3a-3f are connected to the branch suction pipes 11L and 11R through short branch suction pipes 12a-12f, respectively.
