The passive electrooptical display cell layer (8) is made of a material which does not react brightly to the electrical field effects. The layer is interrupted near the display regions which are filled by an active constituent (9). At rest, this constituent has a dark appearance so that, when an electrical field is applied to the regions not supposed to be visible, they become bright and mingle with the rest of the display region taken up by the non-active material. Thus, only the non-activated regions remain visible. The active constituent is made of a mixture of a nemat ic liquid crystal and two coloured molecules.
|
