<p>An anti-corrosion protective system, for unrolled steel cables used in sloping cable bridges and similar braced structures, consists of a polymer sleeving drawn over the cable, with a liq. protective material forced into the intermediate space under low pressure. It is a hydraulic system, utilising the tendency of the stretched outer sleeve to exert pressure on the liq. inside; the pressure is measured at each end of the cable. Pref. the outer sleeving comprises a PTFE outer layer and a plasticised PVC inner layer. Long term protection is provided for exposed and moving steel cables.</p> |
