PURPOSE:To form a film of a desired thickness having a uniform fine surface on Ti (alloy) by electrolyzing the Ti (alloy) in a soln. contg. specified percentages of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid and an oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION:An electrolytic soln. is prepd. by adding 0.1 - 20% sulfuric acid and 0.01 - 20% oxidizing agent such as aq. hydrogen peroxide soln. to 1 - 30% phosphoric acid. Ti or a Ti alloy is anodically oxidized in the mixed electrolytic bath by DC electrolysis to form a film having a uniform fine surface. The thickness of the film is regulated to 1,000Angstrom - several mum or above by changing the amt. of the oxidizing agent added and the bath voltage. The film is porous and has superior hardness.
