PURPOSE:To manufacture a copper alloy combining mechanical properties equal to or higher than those of KFC with electric conductivity equal to that of KFC and surpassing KFC in heat resistance, by adding specific amounts of Mg to a Cu-Fe-P alloy with a specific composition and by depositing Fe2P and Mg3P2 in a copper alloy. CONSTITUTION:A copper alloy consisting of, by weight, 0.05-0.15% Fe, >0.04-0.08% P, 0.02-0.12% Mg, and the balance Cu is refined and formed into an angot. This ingot is hot-worked into the specified shape and cooled from >=600 deg.C down to <=200 deg.C at the rate of >=5 deg.C/sec, which is cold-worked at >=65% draft and then subjected to temp. raised up to 400-600 deg.C to undergo annealing for >=30min. In this way, Fe2P and Mg3P2 are deposited in the copper alloy.
