PURPOSE:To increase an inertia effect of intake air and to improve the volume efficiency of intake air, by a method wherein partition walls, by which the interior of a crank case is partitioned into plural compartments, are situated, the partition wall is engaged with the inner wall of an oil pan for support, and each partition chamber is guided to an intake air passage through a pressure wave fetching pipe. CONSTITUTION:Partition walls 9 are situated in a crank case 8 of a multicylinder diesel engine 1 so that adjoining cylinders are partitioned by the partition wall, and the interior of the crank case 8 is partitioned into plural compartments 10 (101-105). The compartment 10 is communicated with a corresponding intake air branch pipe 6 of a cylinder through a pressure wave fetching pipe 11, and an intake air inertia wave can be amplified in a way that a pressure wave generated by movement of a piston is superposed with an intake air inertia wave in the branch pipe 6. The partition wall 9 is formed such that parts formed in a U-shape in cross section are formed to the ends on both sides of the partition wall, and the U-shaped parts 17 are engaged with lameller engaging part 18, internally protruded from an inner wall 15 of an oil pan 8a facing each other, to support the partition wall.
