PURPOSE:To produce an optical recording medium having optical characteristics stable with time through a relatively simple method, by irradiating a thin Te film on a base with optical energy to crystallize the thin Te film. CONSTITUTION:A thin film of Te (tellurium) is provided on a base by sputtering, vacuum deposition or the like. The thin Te film per se is essentially amorphous, and it is crystallized by irradiation with optical energy. For example, the thin Te film may be provided with a laser light guide pattern by irradiating the film with optical energy through a mask having a light-transmitting part formed in the shape of the pattern. In the case of producing an optical card having this optical recording medium, the thin Te film may be provided beforehand to produce a card, and then the Te film may be crystallized by irradiation with optical energy. Thus, an optical recording medium having stable optical characteristics can be produced relatively easily and speedily. |
