(1) Envelope protein of an acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) virus comprising the amino acid sequence of formula (I), or a fragment of it, is new. - Expression vector comprising a gene coding for an envelope protein of an AIDS virus downstream of a promoter sequence enabling transcription, translation and therefor expression of the envelope protein in a host cell is new. - Transformant carrying an expression vector as defined above is new. - Prodn. of envelope protein of AIDS virus comprises cultivation of a host cell transformed with an expression vector as defined above, followed by extrn. and isolation of the protein.
