A suture is obtained after spinning a polyglycolic acid, or a glycolic acid copolymer of glycolide and l -lactide in an amount not greater than 15% based on the glycolide, the polymeric material having an intrinsic viscosity of at least 0.85, and the suture is hermetically packaged for storage in dry air within a container made of a substantially moisture impervious material. The dry air has a moisture content of not more than 0.1%. |
