PURPOSE:To realize a low cost request reply picture retrieval system by allowing plural cpus to retrieve a file based on a command from a management cpu and to send data to a buffer through simultaneous processing. CONSTITUTION:The titled system consists of a request processing cpu 5 provessing a request from a user terminal equipment, plural systems of cpus 1a-1n, data files 2a-2n attended to them, a management cpu 4 controlling the cpus 1a-1n based on the information from the request processing cpu 5, buffers 3a-3n buffering the output from plural systems of the cpus 1a-1n and a multiple exchange 6 converting an output packet from the buffers 3a-3n. Thus, since the simultaneous processing by the N-system of cpus 1a-1n is attained, the processing speed per each cpu is 1/N, the file capacity is 1/N per file and low cost is realized.
