PURPOSE:To form a data processor convenient in editing an expression or the like by displaying a menu in response to the equation on a display device and a data pointer stack. CONSTITUTION:First and second parts 101, 102 are provided with various types of keys for dividing computer function groups (menu) into part groups consisting of six elements respectively and assigning to a multifunction key 104. A user menu key 108 is included in these keys and the key 108 automatically assigns a user variable to the multifunction key 104. A key 109 written as NEXT advances the assignment of the multifunction key to the next six function groups in a current menu. When this key 109 is pressed, a request signal for advancing the menu to the next menu suitable for a selected partial expression of the equation to be edited is issued and when the function of the key 109 is shifted, the pre above mentioned six functions are reactivated. Namely, when a shift key 107 is pressed and subsequently the key 109 is pressed, a request signal for changing the menu to the previous menu suitable for the selected partial expression of the equation to be edited is issued.
