PURPOSE:To inform the internal state of a machine as much as possible and to dissolve uneasiness by providing a means for stopping a translation processing in response to the operation of a specific key or a means executing other prescribed processing during the translation processing of one sentence, and a means for stopping the processing in response to the operation of the other specific key during the prescribed processing. CONSTITUTION:When a sentence structure analysis is started, the nth frame (herein, frame of n=1) of a sentence structure (n) analysis frame in an indicator display part is lighted. When the timer (t) reaches (n) times as long as 1/10 of a set restricted time T, the number of (n) is decided. If (n) is not 10, 1 is added to (n), and for instance, if n=2, the left frames of the sentence structure analysis frame (b) are lighted. If n=10, t=T to exceed the restricted time and interrupt the sentence structure analysis and put out all the sentence structure analysis frames (b). An operator can select any one of stopping the translation, entering an automatic division translation and continuing the sentence structure analysis by the keys 11-13 of a keyboard 8.
