PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of an original reader equipped with a mirror and to make the weight light by constituting an original reader main body by a resin and plating a wall face in the main body of the mirror. CONSTITUTION:The original reader main body 1 is made of a resin to reduce the weight and the cross section of the whole shape is formed nearly hexagonal. A plastic plating processing with high reflection is applied to each face (original reader main body inner wall face) of bent faces 1a-1c to form a mirror part playing a role of a mirror provided in a conventional original reader main body. The inside of the original reader 1 is provided with a reflector 3, a lamp 4, a lens 5 and a CCD sensor 6. Thus, the reader is constituted with light weight simply and the original reader is driven sufficiently even with a small drive power from the drive source at scanning and the entire power consumption of the copying machine is reduced.
