PURPOSE:To obtain an image which is excellent in density and gradation by switching modes of the density and gradation, by giving a controller a gradation adjusting function which adjusts the gradation of transfer toner by changing the rotating speed of a stirring roller and an image quality adjusting function which adjusts the image quality and density of transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:When a user desires to have a copy, in which the gradation to an intermediate color and fine-line reproducibility are taken into consideration, he increases the rotating speed of a stirring roller 3 supported by a developing tank 2 in a rotatable state. Then a controller 7 outputs a signal for increasing the rotating speed to the driving section of the roller 3. When the rotating speed is increased, the image quality and density are decreased, but the gradation and fine-line reproducibility are improved. When the user desires to have a copy of a sufficient image quality and density, he decreases the rotating speed of the stirring roller 3. Then the gradation and fine-line reproducibility are lowered, but the image quality and density are improved. Therefore, an image which is excellent in both gradation and density can be obtained when the mode of the density and gradation are switched.
