PURPOSE:To miniaturize the captioned device by dividing the intake pipe of each cylinder into plural sectional intake pipes, and winding a sectional intake pipe around a surge tank provided on the opening end part of said sectional intake pipe on the upper course side. CONSTITUTION:The intake pipe of each cylinder is divided into plural sectional intake pipes 14, 16. A surge tank 20 is provided on the opening end part of the sectional intake pipe 16 on the upper course side. The nearly cylindrical surge tank 20 is placed adjacent to a cylinder head 10, and the sectional intake pipe 16 is wound around the surge tank 20. Thereby, an engine as a whole can be miniaturized even when the intake pipe is long.
