PURPOSE:To eliminate the moving of a can and to remarkably shorten the measuring time by arranging within the same plane the reference block coming into contact with a winding end part fixed on a measuring base placing a seaming part on, the measuring pin of a seaming width measuring mechanism pinching the seaming part, the seaming part and the measuring block of a seaming thickness measuring mechanism coming in contact. CONSTITUTION:The seaming part3 of a can 5 is stood on a measuring stand 11 and the outside face of the seaming part 3 is abutted to the reference contact part 46 of the reference block 15 fixed to the measuring stand 11. A measuring pin 13 is then descended and the seaming width can be measured by a magnet scale 51 by pinching the seaming part 3 with the measuring stand 11 and pin 13. The measuring block 16 is moved toward the contact part 46 of the reference block 15 along a slit 47 and the seaming width is measured by the scale 51 by pinching the seaming part 3 with the plane 15a of the contact part 46 and measuring block 16. The can height can be measured with a scale 39 by pinching the can 5 with the measuring stand 11 and the lower face of a can height probe 18.
