PURPOSE:To speedily and accurately inspect the breaking of a wire by making light incident on plural optical fiber cores on one end side at a time, detecting light guided out to the other end side, and counting the number of optical fiber cores out of which the light is guided. CONSTITUTION:The light from a light source 6 is made incident on end surfaces of the plural optical fiber cores 2a-5a clamped on a clamping base 8 at a time through a lens 7 and guided in the optical fiber cores in an optical fiber cable 1 to reach the light projection end side, and images of cores where the light is guided normally is projected on a vidicon camera 12 through a projection optical system 11, the image 17 is picked up under the control of a camera controller 13, and the images 18a and 18b in the image 17 of the cores wherein the light is guided normally are picked up. The number of the cores where the light is guided normally is counted by a computer 15 for control, which outputs the counted value. Thus, the number of the optical fiber cores is counted to count the number of optical fiber cores in the optical fiber cable 1 wherein the breaking of a wire occurs is counted to perform the wire breaking inspection. |
