PURPOSE:To save the installation area of the system and facilitate to cope with diversified kinds of small quantity production utilizing many kinds of tools by a method wherein a magazine accommodating station, accommodating a plurality of portable tool magazines, is provided between the machining center and a tool preparation room. CONSTITUTION:The portable tool magazine G is transferred by a running carriage 18 from the tool preparation room 14 to the tool magazine accommodating station S. The station is equipped with a supporting frame 21, capable of supporting a plurality of magazines G while the supporting frame is indexed by an indexing device into a predetermined position and accommodates the magazine G5 transferred thereto. The tool exchanging devices 25 are provided between the machining centers M1-M3 and the portable tool magazines G1-G4 while a tool is taken out of the magazine indexed to a predetermined position and is supplied to the machining center. |
