PURPOSE:To permit easy detection upon finishing the rising of the heat recovery device, by a method wherein the pH value of the injecting water of a dust removing machine, which passed through heat transfer tubes, is measured to detect the rinsing degree. CONSTITUTION:When heat medium, such as water or the like, is passed through heat transfer tubes 1, the heat medium retrieves heat from exhaust gas through the heat transfer tubes 1 and transfers it to a radiating unit. Water, mixed with the neutralizing agent of acid, is injected from the nozzle of the dust removing machine 4 into a path A to remove dust, adhered to the heat transfer tubes 1. A hopper type water collecting unit 6 is formed in an exhaust path A below the dust removing machine 4 while a pH detector 8 is interposed in a water discharging pipe 7. The pH detector 8 is connected to a monitoring unit 9 and detects the pH value of discharging water. When the removal of dust is advanced and the degree of acid of the water is reduced, the pH value is increased gradually and approaches to the pH value of the neutralizing agent. Here, the pH value upon finishing the removal of the dust is determined and when the value has been achieved, the water injection of the dust removing machine 4 is stopped by a signal from the monitoring unit 9.
